Fed: Freehills to give govt legal advice over Telstra study

CANBERRA, April 5 AAP - National law firm Freehills has been chosen to provide the
federal government with legal advice over a study about the full sale of Telstra.

Finance Minister Nick Minchin said Freehills would act as legal adviser on the scoping
study into the full Telstra sale, providing advice on issues surrounding the study, as
well as processes relating to the full privatisation of the telco.

Senator Minchin said the government had an option to retain Freehills as legal adviser
if the government proceeded with the full sale.

Freehills - one of five firms asked to tender for the job - advised the government
of the sale of the first and second tranche of Telstra shares.

The Australian Government Solicitor has also been appointed in-house counsel on the
scoping study and possible sale.
